Body language lets us communicate without saying a word. It can say that you’re sure about yourself, into someone, or interested in a topic. Body language can even show someone that you aren’t interested. If you put the body language signals that say you’re attracted in reverse,

they can show that you’re just not that into someone.

When you see someone sexy, you make eye contact. You make eye contact from across the room. You make eye contact while talking. You make eye contact just because they’re so nice to look at. This shows the person that you’re into them. If you’re not interested in someone, stop making so much eye contact. You will, of course, look at them occasionally but cut out the smoldering stares. When they’re talking, watch the door, watch the other people in the room, or even watch the TV in a bar. This clearly sends that message that you’re just not into the person or what they’re saying.

Give short answers. This shows someone that you’re not involved in the conversation. Don’t be too harsh, but lack of involvement in a conversation shows that you’re not interested. This isn’t a type of body language but it is super affected when paired with your body language signals.

When you like someone, you get as close to them as possible. You lean in during conversation. You move closer when you’re standing by someone. You touch the person as often as possible on their arm, or their hand. If you’re not interested, do the opposite. Keep space between the two of you. If they try to get closer to you, step back a little or neutralize their efforts.

Standing and sitting straight is a signal of confidence. Standing stiffly is a signal that you’re not interested or uncomfortable. A rigid pose shows that you aren’t enjoying yourself and are not excited about whatever is going on, especially if that’s a conversation with the person in front of you.

When you’re interested in someone, you want to show that you’re open to them with your posture. When you’re not interested, crossing your arms shows that you’re closed off. Also hiding your hands in your pockets or your lap shows that you’re not open as well. This can shows that you aren’t interested in the person in front of you, the conversation, or that you’re feeling smothered.

Closing your legs tightly is another way to make you appear to be closed off as well. It is literally signaling that you aren’t open to someone. Relaxing your stance makes you look approachable. Looking closed off says keep moving, I’m not interested.

You wrinkle your nose when you see something disgusting. Do it when you’re displeased in a situation or with a discussion as well. Wrinkle your nose when the person you’re talking to is bringing up inappropriate topics or just talking on and on.

You never want to hurt an acquaintance’s feelings by blowing them off or saying something rude. Subtly deploy these body language not interested tips to show you’re just not into it without saying a word. If all goes well, they can move onto people that are actually interested and you can move on to much more appealing prospects.
